Option A:

In the film we saw what amounted to a slaughter of Australians at the hands of the Turks, and under the command of the British. As we’ve read in the articles some of the people who are dying in today’s war in Iraq have only limited rights as American citizens. Do you think that the deaths of these people show any sort of inherent racism or classism in these wars? Or are the people dying simply brave heroes fighting for freedom.

Option B:

Though Australia was technically independent from Britain during WWI, this scope of this independence was rather limited; they were politically and economically influenced by Britain in much the same way that many countries are to the US today. As such, the Australian generals were under heavy political influence by the British. Can are there parallels that can be draw between this situation and the war in Iraq? Although it seems that US and British troops are in the majority of the dangerous situations there, is there a similarity in the fact that many of the other countries which play a role in the war have little to gain or lose in this war?
